Stark County Youth Led Prevention is a youth-led, adult-guided leadership development group focusing on promoting and celebrating healthy lifestyles for youth. Since the majority of students do not use alcohol and other drugs, Stark County Youth Led Prevention members want to encourage fellow students to continue to make positive choices regarding substance use! Students are impacted by countless issues while growing up — including depression, anxiety, bullying, suicidal thoughts, substance use and many more.
Funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration SAMHSAHealthy Transitions works to improve access to treatment and support services for youth and young adults that either have, or are at risk of developing, a serious mental health condition, substance use disorder or are at high risk for suicide. Some face the additional challenge of being homeless, or having contact with the juvenile or criminal justice system, increasing the likelihood of admissions to hospitals, mental health facilities and correctional facilities. Healthy Transitions is a youth led program that enables young people to support one another and connect to supportive adults in their community. Anyone ages who is in need of more support, resources or community.
Youth participation is actively involving young people in decision-making processes. The concept is related to ideas of citizenship, personal development, and involvement in society. As a practice, youth participation involves young people in activities, organisations, government and community structures, and engages them on issues that directly affect them, like individual care or learning plans, and wider community-based projects.

Jump to navigation. By creating an environment for youth to plan and lead community events, the coalition became successful in its efforts. Their creation of anti-drug music, youth conferences, and training sessions educated the Ward 8 Community on the dangers of substance abuse and resulted in numerous opportunities for youth to be active community leaders and change agents.
