Jane's World is a comic strip by cartoonist Paige Braddockwhich first debuted on 25 March It stars Jane Wyatt, a young lesbian woman living in an apartment with her roommate, Ethan. Jane has worked at a variety of low-end to mid-level jobs.
Although a trailblazer as a lesbian character, Jane is very much a realistic, everyday person anyone can relate to in just trying to get through every day in spite of the occasional aliens or zombies. Although spending much of its life as a strip, the comics have been reformatted into pages here for easier reading and more effective use of space. This collection selects various runs of the strip from its life, which makes events a little jumpy.
Life is never straightforward in Jane's World. Jane, is a lesbian of a certain age who is hapless in love, over-active in imagination and indulgent of donuts, and a would-be novelist who gets no respect at the newspaper where she works. A series of unfortunate events leads Jane from a desk job at The Daily Heraldto an outreach assignment at The Poultry Timesto being a clerk, to being a short attention span writer, and back to The Heraldas well as some bizarre, side-splittingly funny situations involving alien abductions, runaway camping trailers and a shadowy organization of Matrix -y babes including the mysterious Chelle, Jane's ex.
Jane's PayBuddy account gets hacked and she inadvertently purchases a mail-order bride from Transnistria. Jane doesn't realize she's about to embark on her honeymoon until the bride, Natasha, shows up on her doorstep, with luggage. Jane's roommate, Ethan, can't stop drooling over sexy Natasha.
